The first round of 2013 World Junior Chess Championship was over at 21:25 . The unexpected results of the first day were as follows;
The Chinese player, Yan Fang(2281) made a draw against GM Jorge Cori (2587) from Peru on the third board. CM Luthfi Ali Muhammad (2277) from Indonesia defeated GM Samvel Ter-Sahakyan' (2575) on the 5th board. Cori could not defeat his Chinese opponent because of his choice of opening move. The Chinese players are very well trained and as a result they perform better than their ratings.
Although the rating favorite Ter-Sahakyan Samvel had a very long theory and had the position he planned, he missed the 26...e4 move and couldn't value the pawn that he sacrificed and lost the game.
On the 7th board, The Chinese Chao Chu Wei (2270) having 1 point against IM Vladislav Kovalev (2568) has changed the expected results of the very first 10 boards. Chao performed very well against Kings-Indian in White pieces over his Elo rating point against the rising star, Kovalev.
The second round of the championship will start at 15:00 p.m on Saturday on 14th September 2013.
